About
I’ve always been obsessed with putting things in writing. It forces me to think through things in a way talking and thinking doesn’t, because it illuminates the gaps in your argument and highlights the loose ends. If you can’t put it in writing, do you really get it?
Moreover, this past year I’ve enjoyed keeping a sort of non-traditional diary that collects the moments that are meaningful to me. As my weekly Instagram post suggests, I like to make my diary public, which I pretend is a contract with others to keep up but really is just a way of tricking myself into doing it. Much like I often tell myself at 10pm “I’ll just finish this episode from bed”, but I know once my face hits the pillow no one’s turning on any televisions – and yet, year after year, it continues to get me to bed on-time.
So if you’re interested in keeping up with my pointless, rambling diary, you’re welcome to. I’ll casually drop philosophies so that when I’m old and I re-read them, I’ll be transported back to my previous self and laugh at how similar and how different I will have become. And I’ll reminisce through my writing. As you read and critique, remember that it’s intended to make sense to me, not you.
To repeat what one person recognized about my (similar) Instagram diary: I just post things I want to post.
